River of Flower
Wednesday, February 29th, 2012It is important that we know what to wear during cold and hot weather – dark-colored clothes and light-colored ones respectively; light-colored clothes repel the heat of the sun during warm weather and dark-colored ones absorb it so they are fit to wear for cold weathers to feel warm. Flannels, tweeds and cheviots, and other soft-finished clothing can be recommended if you are faced with a dry, calm cold weather, but if you want to keep yourself protected from sleet and snow and a driving wind, then it is suggested that you use sharkskin or worsted and other clothing with a hard finish; aside from keeping the wind from blowing through, this kinds of clothing will prevent the wet snow to cling to your clothes. It is also a principle with regards to outer garments that it is better to have two thin clothes than one heavy one; it does not mean that it is necessary to have two separate garments, but perhaps you can use those that are lined and other topcoats that have removable lining – this is ideal from economy, warmth and convenience, and also for comfort. Depending upon the degree of cold with which you will put yourself into, the lining of the clothes may be either plain or quilted, or perhaps you can use a thin sweater or knitted vest as an added garment; if you can afford one, you can make use of a cashmere sweater. Dressing the proper clothes for cold weather also means wearing shawl or wool scarves which can also keep you warm; make sure that collars and cuffs of coats and jackets fit rather snugly to prevent the air from escaping but do not keep the clothing itself fit you too tightly.
